I am sitting here, exhausted and sore, the day after photographing my last wedding of the year and reflecting back on 2013. It was my first year without any other job besides photography and I’m mostly just in awe that I pulled it off. If you had asked me 3 years ago what I’d be doing with my life I never would have guessed that I’d have the courage to be a professional photographer, let alone a successful one! I am so grateful for all of my past, present and future clients for trusting me to capture one of the most important events of their lives. It took me a long time to figure out that you can do anything you set your mind to, but I’m sure glad I finally did.
What happened in 2013?
I launched a new website along with a whole new brand makeover! I really wanted to express my style and personality through my brand in order to attract like minded couples. A future client told me the other day that when she saw my website she thought that it was exactly how she wanted her wedding to look like. Mission accomplished.
Over the past year I’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing teams at some amazing wedding venues in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. I am in love with both the ocean and historic architecture so the following places naturally stood out as favorites. The Red Lion Inn - Cohassett MA, Popponesset Inn - Mashpee MA, The Castle at Boston University - Boston MA, Hamilton Hall - Salem MA, Glen Manor House - Portsmouth RI, Ocean Cliff - Newport RI, Belle Mer - Newport RI, Regatta Place - Newport RI, + Providence Biltmore - Providence RI. I hope to see them all again soon!
Being apart of capturing 30 weddings in one year was a huge accomplishment for me. To give you some context, the total was 5 before that. Sure, most of those weddings were for other companies and photographers, but I still learned at least one valuable thing from every one of them. I can’t wait to see where all those experiences are going to take me in the future. This was not easy to do, but I managed to select one photo from each wedding in 2013 to share. It’s been so fun looking back on them!
What’s next for 2014?
If 2013 was this good, I can’t even begin to think of how amazing the next year will be! I have met with some amazing couples that are getting married next year and I can’t wait to share in all of the magic and excitement.
I have made a choice to only shoot what I love going forward, and for now that is couples in love and women who have no idea how beautiful they are. In 2014 I will be continuing to evolve my skills in both wedding and beauty photography. I am also in search of a studio to rent so I can work with my favorite thing in the world, window light.
I love to see new places and will take any chance I can to visit old favorites. To combine my love of travel and history with my passion for wedding photoraphy would be a dream come true. There is a big place in my heart for Sonoma CA, New Orleans LA, Savannah GA and Portland OR. It is also a huge goal to be able to shoot weddings outside of the country as well. Ireland, England and any Tropical Island would be on the top of my list. If you’re planning a destination wedding I have a very special offer planned for the right couple. (ahem, no travel fees, ahem) If you’re planning a wedding anywhere other than new england please message me for details!
In closing I would like to say that I wish that everyone reading this will have the courage to follow their dreams in 2014. You never know where they’ll take you!
Happy New Year!
